In 1986, a Hellenistic-Roman town was discovered when the construction of the Marina Town in El-Alamein started. The area has been converted into an open-air museum.
Nightlife is also booming in this part of the White Med; the Egyptian elite seem to consider the newly built resort towns of Porto Marina, Sidi Abdel Rahman and Marasi on this long stretch of paradise as the new and exclusive places to be in on week-ends and hot Saturday nights.
